Dŵr Cymru/Welsh Water’s and Welsh Water Organic Energy is dedicated to providing value from organic waste within Wales and has established a food waste site next to Welsh Water’s Cardiff East Waste Water Treatment Works on Rover Way in Tremorfa.

The food waste is processed through anaerobic digestion. This process produces electricity which helps power the neighbouring treatment works, the equivalent electricity of powering 2,000 homes, and quality grade fertiliser.

Velta was appointed directly by Dŵr Cymru/Welsh Water to upgrade the drainage network at the Cardiff Food Waste Depot to allow the expansion of their operations at the site, maximising sustainable outcomes within the region.

Working in accordance with our health and safety management system, all works were completed to the highest safety standards with zero incidents throughout delivery,
