Strengthening Water Infrastructure with Community in Mind

 

Project Overview

Velta is delivering essential water infrastructure improvements in Llyswen, installing 22km of 315mm water mains to connect reservoirs and properties across the village. With a strong emphasis on minimising disruption, the project has been carefully planned to ensure smooth progress while maintaining positive engagement with the local community.

Our Approach

  • Minimising Disruption: To support the town’s cultural and economic vibrancy, all works were temporarily paused during the Hay Festival, ensuring the event could proceed without interference.

  • Considerate Construction: Understanding the impact of major works, we also halted operations over the Christmas period to reduce disruption for residents and businesses during the festive season.

  • Community Engagement: Velta worked closely with residents and businesses, proactively communicating road closures and potential disruptions, keeping inconvenience to an absolute minimum.

  • Sustainable Practices: Where possible, we utilised low-impact construction methods to protect the local environment and maintain the rural charm of Llyswen.
