LANGSTONE AND UNDERWOOD – ULTRAFAST BROADBAND
Home | Sectors | Infrastructure | LANGSTONE AND UNDERWOOD ULTRAFAST BROADBAND
Velta and our partners Fibrelay installed 7km new ultra-fast fibre broadband to connect small rural and dispersed communities between Langstone and Underwood near the M4 Junction 24 in Newport, South Wales.
Working on both the A48 and B4245, Velta excavated trenches in the carriageway and adjacent footpaths before Fibrelay installed the new cables – connecting the communities of Llanbeder, Llanmartin and Llandevaud. Our carefully designed traffic management minimised disruption to road users. Our working methods considered the needs of road users, finding innovative ways to work safely without any road closures.
The A48 is a critical diversion route for M4/M48 traffic. Demonstrating our ability to react quickly, we removed all our traffic management as soon as we were notified of incidents on the motorway network – keeping the road network moving.
Working closely with our client, Ogi, we kept them and their customers informed throughout the works, keeping our promises and delivering on time and to budget.
As part of our commitment to sustainability, all arisings were recycled off site with zero site waste going to landfill.
