Barry N53 Scheme – Delivering Critical Water Infrastructure
Project Overview
Our new concrete slabs support the SAF aeration filters and lamella tanks – the first stage of water treatment. It was vital that all works were completed to the highest quality standards.
We implemented our quality management system, undertaking material testing and quality inspection checklists to ensure the new slabs were fully compliant with the client’s design and specifications. As a result, the works were handed over with zero defects on completion.
Scope of work
- Trunk Main Renewal: Replacement of 5,086 meters of 630mm trunk main to improve resilience and performance.
- Distribution Pipe Installation: Renewal of 763 meters of distribution pipes, ranging from 180mm to 32mm in diameter.
- Advanced Installation Techniques: Utilisation of directional drilling, slip-lining, and open-cut methods to ensure efficiency and minimal disruption.
- Service Transfers: Approximately 10 service transfers to integrate the new infrastructure.
- Pipeline Cleansing: 3 kilometers of pipeline cleansing to optimise system performance.
