We are looking for experienced and dynamic Lead Hands/Gangers to join our high-performing team. As a Lead Hand/Ganger, you will play a leadership role in ensuring the success of our construction projects, upholding our core values of integrity, inclusivity, innovation, and quality.

Position Overview:
As a Lead Hand/Ganger at Velta Construction, you will be responsible for supervising and co-ordinating the activities of a construction gang. Working closely with the project management team, you will ensure construction tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and in line with project specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise the gang, ensuring adherence to company values and safety protocols.
• Lead, manage, and support construction workers, ensuring effective task allocation.
• Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to coordinate construction activities, ensuring safety compliance.
• Monitor and maintain high work standards, addressing issues for project success.
• Co-ordinate construction equipment, plan material needs, and ensure proper maintenance.
• Provide safety and construction training to gang members, sharing knowledge for skill enhancement.
• Address issues promptly, making decisions to keep projects on track.
• Discuss changes or amendments to method statements with the site supervisor.
• Establish a safe systems of work, undertaking task briefings to maintain a secure worksite.
• Ensure timely completion of works, implementing best practices for efficiency.
• Ensure permits are in place and signed before work commences.
• Provide feedback on plant no longer required and report issues promptly.
• Address personnel changes or conflicts within the construction gang.

Requirements:

1. Experience: Proven experience as a Lead Hand/Ganger in the construction industry.
   
   

2. Skills: Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and guide a construction team.
   
   

3. Certifications: NRSWA, EUSR, SHEA Water, CPCS / CSCS, First Aid, CAT and Genny, Plant above and below 10t, Dumper and roller, Slinger / signaller.  Control point experience is desirable.
