As part of the Welsh Government’s A465 dualling, Velta was appointed to install new water supplies, including deep excavations, road crossings, and new rising mains.

In Phase 1, we successfully completed a 46m-long pipe crossing beneath the A465. A design change required a depth increase from 2m to 4m, and Velta quickly implemented temporary works and groundwater management solutions to maintain safety. The work was completed over a weekend road closure, with the carriageway fully reinstated 24+ hours early.

Phase 2 involved the installation of 200m of rising main along local roads, while Phase 3 involved a 60m-long pipe crossing below the A465 and through adjacent farmland. In both cases, Velta’s efficient use of pre-booked road closures ensured minimal disruption, with all work delivered safely and on budget.
