Critical repairs at Avonmouth Facility

Velta was appointed to replace damaged petrol interceptor and reconstruct a concrete apron within a washdown shed at a busy, operational vehicle maintenance depot. This critical facility, used for cleaning heavy goods vehicles, required the interceptor to ensure that contaminants were filtered from wash water before being recycled.

The project involved deep excavation within a high water table, influenced by the tidal Severn Estuary. Velta designed and installed temporary works in compliance with BS 5975, including sheet piling and frames. Groundwater was continuously managed using submersible pumps to ensure the excavation remained dry and safe.

The works were completed on time, within budget, and with zero defects, ensuring the facility remained fully operational throughout the project.
